Lexikon des Mittelalters
The Lexikon des Mittelalters (LexMA) represents the standard encyclopaedia for Medieval Studies and stands as an essential tool for scholars of the medieval period across diverse disciplines. It encompasses material originating from a wide geographical area, including Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa. The encyclopaedia prominently features the ancient foundations of Western civilization and neighboring civilizations such as the Byzantine, Arabic, and Jewish.
The printed edition’s richness has been enhanced by Brepols Publishers, incorporating English headwords and live links to a Cumulative Bibliography through the International Medieval Bibliography and the Bibliographie de civilisation médiévale. LexMA is seamlessly connected to the International Encyclopaedia for the Middle Ages – Supplement to LexMA, a new encyclopaedia that provides supplementary material to complement the existing coverage in LexMA.
The Lexikon des Mittelalters is offered Online together with the International Encyclopaedia for the Middle Ages.
