Update Sources Chrétiennes Online

The Sources Chrétiennes Online (SCO) database was updated. It now provides source texts and French translations from 491 of the almost 630 printed volumes. Some notable additions are the sermons of Guerric of Igny, Eusebius of Caesarea’s Preparation for the Gospel, and the works of Francis of Assisi. By 2025, the SCO database will cover all volumes by then published in print in the long-running Sources Chrétiennes edition project.

Update Sources Chrétiennes Online

The Sources Chrétiennes Online (SCO) database was updated. It now provides source texts and French translations from 456 of the 625 printed volumes. Some notable additions are Origen’s Contra Celsum, the Rule of St Benedict, and William of St-Thierry’s Mirror of Faith.

By 2025, the SCO database will cover all volumes by then published in print in the long-running Sources Chrétiennes edition project. In this latest update, historical authors have also been provided with links to external authority files (to be expanded), and it has become possible to click on to the corresponding headwords in the Database of Latin Dictionaries through the short definitions for Latin words in the Instrumenta pop-up.

The Sources Chrétiennes Online (SCO) database was updated. It now provides source texts and French translations from 431 of the 625 printed volumes. Notable additions include Gregory the Great’s Moralia in Job, the works of Mark the Ascetic, and Hilary of Poitiers’ Commentary on the Psalms, alongside many others. By 2025, the SCO database will cover all volumes by then published in print in the long-running Sources Chrétiennes edition project.

Sources Chrétiennes Online has been updated

In December 2020, the Sources Chrétiennes Online (SCO) database received its last trimestrial update for 2020. It now provides source texts and French translations from 305 out of 600+ printed volumes. Notable additions include the famous Hymns by Romanus Melodus, the Ecclesiastical History by Socrates of Constantinople, Marius Victorinus’ writings, and many others. By 2025, the SCO database will cover all volumes by then published in print in the long-running Sources Chrétiennes edition project.

Exciting update on Sources Chrétiennes Online

We are glad to let you know that the database Sources Chrétiennes Online has been updated with a new tool called ‘Instrumenta‘. Instrumenta provides you with suggestions of translation and morphological analysis in a pop-up, for the Latin words encountered in the texts of the database. The tool is now in a first version, but will be expanded and improved in the next quarterly updates.

Webinar Sources Chrétiennes Online (English)

We are pleased to inform you that a webinar about the database Sources Chrétiennes Online will be organized on Wednesday April, 15th at 11am EST / 5 pm CET.

Launched in 1942, the “Sources Chrétiennes” series has provided some 600 critical editions of texts from the Church Fathers. More precisely, the series consists of editions-with-translations of Christian texts in Greek and Latin, but also in oriental languages, such as Syriac, Aramaic and Georgian.

Dans le contexte actuel, Brepols cherche de nouvelles façons de communiquer avec ses partenaires. A cet effet, nous avons décidé d’offrir aux utilisateurs de nos bases de données la possibilité de suivre des présentations en ligne sur ces outils. La première présentation porte sur la nouvelle base de données Sources Chrétiennes Online.

La collection Sources Chrétiennes lancée en 1942 comporte aujourd’hui 600 volumes consacrés aux textes latins, grecques et orientaux des Pères de l’Eglise. En janvier 2020, Brepols a lancé une version en ligne sur son site www.brepolis.net qui comporte déjà 200 volumes. Vous trouverez davantage d’informations sur cette base de données sur ce lien.

Ce  mardi 7 avril à 11 heures, nous donnerons une courte présentation en ligne de cette base de données en français.

Cette présentation est destinée aux bibliothécaires, aux chercheurs et aux étudiants.

Sources Chrétiennes Online : first 200 volumes available

Sources Chrétiennes Online (SCO) is the digital and searchable counterpart to the long-running edition project of the Institut des Sources Chrétiennes (Lyon), published by Les Éditions du Cerf (Paris). This first release contains 200 (titles list) of the project’s Latin and Greek source texts and French translations. The total number of editions in the printed volumes exceed 600, which will all be incorporated into the SCO database by 2025.
